Asteroid Battle Machine is an unnamed Battle Machine that appeared in Episode 27 of Armored Fleet Dairugger XV.
Appearance[]
The Asteroid Battle Machine has a dark green, mechanical shell and with a dark blue head. It’s head resembles a rhinoceros beetle’s head with a small, nasal horn with a green tip, blue bug-eyes, three red arrow-shaped slits on top, and a red mechanical base with two long antennas. The Asteroid Battle Machine also has three spikes on it’s shoulders and four dark blue legs with three, gray-colored toe claws.
Biography[]
During an attack on the Earth Space Fortress by Captain Lafitte’s Fleet and a Laser Battle Machine, the Rugger Guard and the Rugger Team head on their way to help out, with the Rugger Team already formed into Dairugger XV. Fortunately, the Space Fortress fights back and manages to destroy the Laser Battle Machine as well as Lafitte’s Flagship. Upon hearing this, the Rugger Guard and the Rugger Team still make their way. However, as they get through an asteroid field, an Asteroid Battle Machine suddenly rises out from one of the asteroids, presumably placed there as a precaution for Dairugger XV’s intrusion, and ambushes Dairugger XV by firing missiles at it, causing the super robot to fall down onto the asteroid. Fortunately, Dairugger XV manages to avoid crashing down onto the asteroid’s surface and immediately starts fighting the Asteroid Battle Machine. Dairugger XV uses Miracle Beam, but it has no effect on the Asteroid Battle Machine and it burrows back into the asteroid to ambush Dairugger XV from the back. Once on top of Dairugger XV, the Asteroid Battle Machine shocks Aki with it’s claws by placing them on Dairugger XV’s head. Aki manages to pull through the shock and gets Dairugger XV to throw the Asteroid Battle Machine off. Once off, the Asteroid Battle Machine fires lasers from it’s antennas, but Dairugger XV uses Shot Arrow to set the antennas on fire. The Asteroid Battle Machine then prepares to fire more missiles from it’s back, so Dairugger XV uses Spin Cutter to destroy it’s missile launcher. With the Asteroid Battle Machine now defenseless, Dairugger XV summons the Dairugger Sword to lay the final blow. The Asteroid Battle Machine tries to burrow back into the asteroid in order to retreat, but Dairugger XV manages to slice the body before it could fully burrow down, blowing it up.
Powers/Abilities[]
Burrowing: The Asteroid Battle Machine is able to burrowing into rocky surfaces like a mole with it’s front claws when they start glowing.
Missiles: The Asteroid Battle Machine can open up its back to reveal an 8-tubed missile launcher.
Laser Antennas: The Asteroid Battle Machine can fire red laser beams from it’s two antennas.
Electrical Claws: The Asteroid Battle Machine’s claws can discharge electricity to it’s opponent upon touch.
Trivia[]
- In the episode where it debuted, the Asteroid Battle Machine’s appearance came out of nowhere as the entire episode was focused on the Space Fortress fighting back.
- One possible theory for it’s sudden appearance was that it was set on the asteroid earlier by one of the Galveston Fleets as a precaution for if Dairugger XV were to get involved in their attack on the Earth Space Fortress.
